OFFICIAL RULES


1. SPONSORS:
KTLA-TV, 5800 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90028
Jupi Corporation/Bruno Sciavi, 9595 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 900, Beverly Hills, CA 90212

2. CONTEST DATES:
The contest begins at 12:00:01 a.m. PT on January 27, 2011 and ends at 10:00 a.m. PT on February 28, 2011.

3. HOW TO ENTER:
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.

a. Beginning at 12:00:01 a.m. PT on January 27, 2011, go to www.ktla.com/dance and follow the instructions to complete the entry form and upload your video (including a dance performance) via online submission. Entries must be submitted by February 3, 2011 at 9:59:59 am PT February 7, 2011 at 11:59:59 pm PT. Any entries submitted after 11:59:59 p.m. PT on February 7, 2011 will be disqualified. The Sponsors’ clock shall be the official timekeeper of this Contest. You must provide all information requested on the entry form, including your name, address, telephone number and valid e-mail address, the name and age of each person in your dance group (if applicable), a contact for the dance group, including name and age (if not already provided), a member of your group designated to receive all winnings (the “Designated Winner,” if applicable), and the uploading of one digital video showcasing yourself or your group performing a dance (the “Entry Materials”). Video must be NO GREATER than 200MB in size, NO LONGER than two (2) minutes, and in one of the following formats:

• avi
• dv
• mov
• qt
• mp4
• mpeg
• 3gp
• asf
• wmv
• mpg
• mp3


The video and dance must be your own performance. The entry must not include any other entity’s brand name, logo, company name, trademark, service mark, copyrighted material, or material that is in any way proprietary to another entity. There will be only one entry per person or dance group. You must have a valid e-mail account in order for your entry to be eligible. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify those entries that may subject Sponsors to a claim or litigation. Contest is limited to amateur dancers only, and an amateur is defined as an individual earning 10 percent or less of their income from dancing.

b. By entering, you on behalf of yourself and your dance group, if applicable, represent that the Entry Materials (i) consists of your own performance (ii) do not/will not violate or infringe any intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyright, trademark/trade name, or contract rights, or any other proprietary rights of any person or entity and the video is the exclusive property of Entrant; and (iii) in no other way violate any applicable laws, regulations, or television broadcast network standards as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion. Entry Materials that do not comply with these Rules shall be disqualified. Sponsor reserves the right to prohibit any Entrant from participating in the Contest if, at its sole discretion, Sponsor finds such Entrant to be tampering with the entry process, the voting process, or the operation of the Contest, or if such entrant repeatedly shows a disregard for, or attempts to circumvent, these Official Rules, or acts: (a) in a manner the Sponsor determines to be not fair or equitable; (b) with an intent to annoy, threaten or harass any other entrant or Sponsor; or (c) in any other disruptive manner.

c. Incomplete or late entries will be disqualified and KTLA is not responsible for online entries that are lost, late, incomplete, garbled, deleted, or misdirected as a result of technical, internet, server, or other online difficulties. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of an entrant, the holder of the e-mail account will be deemed the person who submitted the entry. Limit one entry per person. Subsequent entries from the same email address will be deleted. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified. All entry information becomes the property of Sponsors and will not be returned or its receipt acknowledged.


4. ELIGIBILITY:
This contest is void where prohibited by law. This contest is open only to legal residents of California within the KTLA viewing area, who are 18 years of age or older (including each member of the dance group, if applicable) as of January 20, 2010. Employees of Sponsors and their parent corporations, subsidiaries, or affiliates, and such employees’ immediate family or household members are not eligible to enter or win the contest.

5. PRIZE AND WINNER SELECTION:

a. On or about February 4, 2011, all eligible entrants will be reviewed by a panel of judges composed of certain KTLA Staff and/or persons designated by KTLA Staff (“the Judges”). The Judges will select up to fifty (50) quarter-finalists on the basis of stage presentation and overall entertainment value.

b. Beginning at 12:00:00 a.m. on February 9, 2011, the public will be allowed to go online at www.ktla.com/dance and cast votes for the Entry Materials of the quarter-finalists. Voting on quarter-finalists will end at 11:59:59 p.m. on February 13, 2011. On-line voting entries containing attachments, or generated by a script, macro or other automated means shall be disqualified. On or near February 14, 2011, the Judges will evaluate the quarter-finalists. The panel will deem ten (10) of the quarter-finalist entries “semi-finalists” based on the following criteria:

• 33% stage presence
• 34% overall entertainment value
• 33% popularity as signified by the number of votes received in the semi-final round


KTLA will announce the semi-finalists on February 18, 2011.

c. Between February 21, 2011 and February 25, 2010, the 10 semi-finalists will have the opportunity to perform the dance on the “KTLA 5 Morning News,” (“the Show”) located at either the KTLA studios or at another location chosen within the KTLA viewing area, which airs on weekdays from 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT. Sponsors reserve the right to air these performances on a delayed or tape-delayed basis. Semi-finalists must be available to appear on the Show on any date between February 21, 2011 and February 25, 2011, or they will be disqualified. Sponsor will attempt to schedule two semi-finalist performances per program. If necessary,, Alternate semi-finalists may be chosen from the pool of quarter-finalists at the sole discretion of the Sponsor based on the criteria set forth herein. An on-air performance is not guaranteed due to the coverage of breaking news or other unforeseen circumstances or for any reason in Sponsors sole discretion. The semi-finalists will ensure that their performances do not violate any applicable laws, regulations, or television broadcast network standards as determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion. Semi-finalists may be required to sign a statement of content standard compliance and liability release before being allowed to perform on the Show. Failure to sign the statement may result in disqualification.

d. On each day between February 21, 2011 and February 25, 2011, between 12:00:00 a.m. and 9:00:00 a.m., the public will be allowed to go online at www.ktla.com/dance and cast votes for the semi-finalists performing on the Show that day. On-line voting entries containing attachments, or generated by a script, macro or other automated means shall be disqualified.

On each day semi-finalists perform on the Show, the Judges will evaluate the semi-finalists after all semi-finalist performances on that day’s Show have been completed. On each day semi-finalists perform on the Show, the judging panel will deem one (1) of the semi-finalists to be a “finalist” based on the following criteria:

• 40% stage presentation of performance
• 40% entertainment value of performance
• 20% popularity as signified by the viewer voting results for that day


Sponsors retain the right to direct the Judges to choose more than one finalist on any given semi-finalist performance date because of rescheduled performances due to breaking news or other unforeseen circumstances. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify those semi-finalists that may subject Sponsors to a claim or litigation.

e. Between February 25, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. and February 27, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., the public will be allowed to go online at www.ktla.com/dance and cast votes for the five finalists. On-line voting entries containing attachments, or generated by a script, macro or other automated means shall be disqualified.

f. Sometime after 5:00 p.m. on February 27, 2011, the Judges will designate one of the finalists as the winner, based on the following criteria

• 40% stage presentation of all contest performances, including Entry Materials
• 40% entertainment value of all contest performances, including Entry Materials
• 20% popularity as signified by the number of votes received in the finalist round


g. The winner will receive $10,000 cash. The winner is advised that all funds received as part of the prize are taxable. The prize specified herein is being awarded as is, with no warranty, representation or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, by Sponsor.

Sponsors also reserve the right, but are not required, to provide additional products and/or services as part of the prize package at their discretion.

The winner is responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes associated with the prize, as well as all other costs or expenses associated with the prize, including, but not limited to travel and incidental expenses (including but not limited to travel to the “KTLA 5 Morning News”).

Prizes are not transferable, and prize substitution will not be allowed, except at the sole discretion of Sponsors. Sponsors reserve the right, but are not required, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value for the prize in the event the prize listed herein is canceled, postponed or unavailable for any reason.


6. GENERAL CONDITIONS:

a. If for any reason, this Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause which corrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the contest, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate, modify, or suspend the contest or any portion of the contest. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST. Information submitted in Internet entries, including entrant's name, address, e-mail address, etc., may be used by KTLA TV for marketing or promotional purposes.

b. Sponsor reserves the right to delay contest announcements, postpone or reschedule all or some of the contest events, and/or modify Contest deadlines at its sole discretion. Any such changes will be announced and posted on the Sponsor’s Contest website.

c. Semi-finalists, finalists, and Winners may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release and a Publicity Release, and failure to sign and return such documentation to the Sponsor may result in disqualification.

d. By participating in this contest, entrants (i) agree to have their names, photographs, voices, biographical information, likenesses, and entry submissions (including photographs and videos) used in any and all media for promotional purposes relating to this contest or future similar contests without further compensation or notice, except as prohibited by law; and (ii) agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges and to release Sponsors, their parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, claims , losses, or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from their participation in this contest and their acceptance and use of any prizes won or any printing, typographical or other error in these Official Rules or the announcement of offering of any prize. Neither the failure of Sponsor to insist upon or enforce strict performance of any provision of these Official Rules or the failure, delay or omission by Sponsor in exercising any right with respect to any term of these Official Rules, will be construed as a waiver or relinquishment to any extent of Sponsor’s right to assert or rely upon any such provision or right in that or any other instance.

e. This Contest is subject to the KTLA.COM Terms of Service (www.ktla.com/termsofservice) and the KTLA.COM privacy policy (www.ktla.com/privacypolicy and shall be governed, construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to the choice of law provisions thereof.


7. OFFICIAL RULES AND WINNERS LIST:
For a copy of the Official Rules or the name of the quarterfinalists, semifinalists, finalists and the winner, send a self-addressed envelope to “Dance Your Debt Off 2011”, Attn: Creative Services, KTLA-TV, 5800 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90028, by May 1, 2011. A list of these names will be available after the winner has been verified and the prize has been awarded.
