SWEEPSTAKES DATES

The Sweepstakes begins at 7:00:01 a.m. PT on April 30, 2012 and ends at 11:59:59 a.m. PT on May 18, 2012 (the “Sweepstakes Period”). All entries must be submitted and received within this time period. Any entries not received within this time period will be disqualified.

NO PURCHASE NECESSSARY.

Watch “KTLA 5 Morning News” on KTLA-TV, which starts at 4:00 a.m. and ends at 10:00 a.m, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., for a code word on any of the following days, which are grouped into three rounds as indicated below:

The code word will be provided and displayed onscreen during the broadcast of the show (excluding advertisements). Then, go to www.ktla.com/prius to enter the code word and complete and submit the online entry form. You must provide all information requested on the entry form, including name, telephone number, and age. You must also have a valid e-mail account in order for your entry to be eligible. Incomplete entries will be disqualified. Entries containing incorrect code words or no code word at all will be disqualified. Each code word will be valid until 11:59:59 p.m. on the day it is displayed, with the exception of Friday, May 18, 2012, when the code word will be valid until 11:59:59 a.m. Copies or other mechanical reproductions, facsimiles, entries containing technical or electronic reproductions, entries containing attached files are not eligible and will be rejected. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of an entrant, the holder of the e-mail account will be deemed the person who submitted the entry. Entries become the exclusive property of Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged. Limit one entry per person/e-mail address per day. Multiple entries from the same person on the same day will be disqualified. Limit one entry per day per household. Sponsor is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, misaddressed or misdirected due to technical or computer failures, errors or data loss of any kind, lost or unavailable internet connections, or failed incomplete, garbled or deleted computer or networks transmissions, inability to access the website or online service, or any other technical error or malfunction.

 

ELIGIBILITY

Void Where Prohibited By Law.

These Sweepstakes are open to legal residents of California, who are 18 years of age or older as of April 30, 2012 and who have not won any other prize from KTLA within the 90 days prior to the Sweepstakes Period. Employees of other media companies (including radio and television), Sponsors and their parent corporations, subsidiaries, or affiliates, advertising or promotional agencies, and such employees' immediate family or household members are not eligible to enter or win the contest.

 

PRIZE AND WINNER SELECTION

On Monday, May 7, 2012 one (1) person will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries submitted during Round 1 and designated as a Finalist.

 

On Monday, May 14, 2012 one (1) person will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries submitted during Round 2 and designated as a Finalist.

 

On Friday, May 18, 2012 sometime after 12:00 p.m., one (1) person will be selected in a random drawing from all eligible entries submitted during Round 3 and designated as a Finalist.

 

The odds of being designated as a Finalist depend on the number of valid entries received in each round. If a selected Finalist is not eligible, fails to give the correct code word, declines to be a Finalist, or cannot be contacted within twenty-four (24) hours of the initial notification, the prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate Finalist randomly selected by Sponsors from all remaining valid entries for the round in question.

 

Each finalist will have the opportunity to participate in a competition (the "Finalist Competition") to determine the winner of this Contest. The Finalist Round will take place at KTLA, 5800 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles, CA, 90028, between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on May 23, 2012. Finalists must be available to appear on-air on the KTLA 5 Morning News ("the Show") on May 23, 2012, or they will be disqualified. Failure to confirm participation in the Finalist Round by 12:00 p.m. PT ("noon") on May 21, 2012 shall result in disqualification. The finalists agree to comply with and conform to generally accepted broadcast standards with regard to conduct, dress and language during his or her appearances on KTLA-TV, and such compliance shall be determined by KTLA Staff in their sole discretion. In the event of disqualification, Sponsors reserve the right to choose an alternate finalist or to reduce the number of teams competing in the Finalist Round. KTLA reserves the right to reschedule the dates of finalists’ appearances because of breaking news, technical problems or unforeseen scheduling conflicts.

 

The terms, conditions and rules of the Finalist Competition will be explained to all finalists upon being notified of their finalist status. A printed version of the terms, conditions and rules of the Finalist Competition will also be available to all Finalists.

 

Sponsors reserve the right to change the Finalist Competition including (but not limited to) nature of activities or game play. Any substantial changes to the Finalist Competition will be explained verbally to all finalists. Finalists’ participation in the Finalist Competition shall be deemed an acknowledgement of their understanding and acceptance of these Contest rules, as well as the rules of the Finalist Competition as explained to them verbally and in print, and any substantial changes to the Finalist Competition communicated to them.

 

The Winner of the Finalist Competition will receive a 2012 Toyota Prius C, Model 1201,. The Approximate Retail Value of the prize is $19,000. The Winner must possess a valid California driver license, provide proof of adequate automobile insurance. Winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance costs, surcharges, registration, title, and license fees and other costs incurred in claiming, registering or using the vehicle, and operating and maintaining the vehicle. Toyota Dealers of Southern California accepts no responsibility for repairing any real or supposed damage to the vehicle. Any additional options (including the interior and exterior color of the vehicle) not specified herein are subject to availability and at the sole discretion of Toyota Dealers of Southern California. The year, make, model or color of any vehicle displayed or pictured in promotional/advertising materials may not be the actual vehicle awarded. BE AWARE THAT TAXES ON THEGRAND PRIZE WILL, IN ALL LIKELIHOOD, BE SUBSTANTIAL. DO NOT ENTER THIS CONTEST IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO PAY TAXES ON THE GRAND PRIZE. Grand Prize Winner will receive a 1099 tax form reflecting the actual value of any prize that is $600 or more.

 

 

All federal, state, and local taxes associated with the prize, as well as all other costs or expenses involved in obtaining the prize, are the responsibility of the Winner. Prizes are awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, expressed or implied, being provided by Sponsors.

 

The prize is not replaceable if lost, stolen, or destroyed, not transferable or redeemable for cash, and may not be substituted for another prize, except at the sole discretion of Sponsors, or as provided in these rules. Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value for the prize.

 

The Finalists will be notified that he or she has been selected as a winner by telephone or by e-mail.

 

The Finalists will be required to present valid identification and will be required to sign a Statement of Eligibility and Liability and Publicity Release by the deadline established by Sponsor in order to participate in the Finalist Competition and, if they are declared the Winner, receive the prize. If a Finalist does not fulfill these requirements, he or she may be disqualified and any prize may be forfeited.

 

Sponsors also reserve the right, but are not required, to provide additional products and/or services as part of the prize package at their discretion.

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS
If for any reason, the Internet-related portion of these sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause which corrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the sweepstakes, Sponsors reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate or suspend the sweepstakes or any portion of the sweepstakes. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THESE SWEEPSTAKES WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE SWEEPSTAKES. Information submitted in Internet entries, including entrant's name, address, e-mail address, etc., may be used by Sponsor and any of its assigns for marketing or promotional purposes.

 

Sponsors (or their assigns) reserve the right not to display code words onscreen due to the coverage of breaking news or other unforeseen circumstances. Should sponsors choose not to display a trivia question on any day during the Sweepstakes Period for reasons listed above, sponsors reserve the right (but are not required) to do one of the following:

 

a)      Extend the Contest Period so that the code words not displayed as originally scheduled may be displayed on a different day

b)      Display the code words during another KTLA-TV news broadcast

c)      Reduce the overall number of code words required to enter the Contest

d)     Cancel the entire Contest and refrain from selecting any winners from the pool of entries

e)      Take no action

 

Any and all schedule changes for the display of code words will be listed at www.ktla.com/prius.

 

By participating in this Sweepstakes, you agree to release and hold harmless Sponsors, and all their parent corporations, subsidiaries, and affiliates, and the officers, directors, agents, and employees of all such companies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of action, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this sweepstakes, and/or your acceptance, possession, use, or misuse of any prize and any travel related thereto, including without limitation, personal injury, death, property damage, defamation, infringement of intellectual property rights, and claims based on the rights of publicity and privacy.

 

Sponsors are not responsible for changes made to the Prizes being awarded, including any delay, cancellation or postponement of the Prize events, and is under no obligation to provide a substitute prize. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing or advertising of the offer, administration or execution of the Sweepstakes or in the announcements of the prizes/prize winners.

 

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrants and Sponsors in connection with these Sweepstakes shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions.

 

Neither the failure of Sponsors to insist upon or enforce strict performance of any provision of these Official Rules nor the failure, delay or omission by Sponsors in exercising any right with respect to any term of these Official Rules, will be construed as a waiver or relinquishment to any extent of Sponsors’ right to assert or rely upon any such provision or right in that or any other instance.

 

By participating in these sweepstakes, you also agree to have your name, photograph, voice, biographical information, and likeness used in any and all media for promotional purposes relating to these sweepstakes or future similar sweepstakes without further compensation or notice, except as prohibited by law.

The winners’ names will be available after the winners have been verified and the prizes have been awarded.
