OFFICIAL RULES


1. SPONSOR:
KTLA-TV, 5800 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, California 90028.

2. CONTEST DATES:
The contest begins at 12:00:01 a.m. PT on February 14, 2011 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. PT on February 23, 2011. Any entries received after 11:59:59 p.m. PT on February 23, 2011 will be disqualified.

3. HOW TO ENTER:

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

a. Go to www.ktla.com/cohost and follow the instructions to complete the entry form. In order to provide a qualified entry submission, you must provide all information requested on the entry form, including your name, age, address, contact information, a valid e-mail account , an essay of no more than 100 words describing why you should be picked as a co-host of the KTLA 5 Morning News for a day, and you must upload one digital video showcasing yourself performing as if you were an anchor on the KTLA 5 Morning News (the “Entry Materials”). Video must be NO GREATER than 200MB in size, NO LONGER than two (2) minutes, and in one of the following formats:

The video must be your own performance. The entry must not include any other entity’s brand name, logo, company name, trademark, service mark, copyrighted material, or material that is in any way proprietary to another entity. There will be only one entry per person or dance group. You must have a valid e-mail account in order for your entry to be eligible. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify those entries that may subject Sponsors to a claim or litigation.

Entrants represent and warrant that no laws were broken in the creation of the essay, and the essay and video are each the entrant’s own original composition. There will be only one entry per person. Videos that are altered or electronically enhanced in order to substantially misrepresent the contestant or the subject matter will not be considered and will be disqualified. Videos or essays that violate the copyright(s) and/or trademark(s) of a third party may be disqualified. Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify those entries that contain offensive, obscene, profane, pornographic or inappropriate material, which are deemed by the Sponsor to be unsuitable, or which Sponsor believes subjects it to a claim or litigation. The essay must not contain defamatory or libelous statements (including but not limited to words that are considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic group), it must not invade the privacy or any other rights of any person, firm, or entity, and it must not in any other way violate any applicable laws, regulations or broadcast network standards The video should not include any images or other displayed media that are not your own original creations. Entries that breach the foregoing representations and warranties may be disqualified. Entrants agree to indemnify, defend and hold Sponsor harmless against any and all liabilities, losses, damages, claims, debts, investigations, fines, penalties, costs, expenses and settlements (including attorneys' fees and costs of litigation, settlement, judgment, interest and penalties) arising out of or related to a breach of the foregoing representations and warranties.

b. Incomplete or late entries will be disqualified and KTLA is not responsible for online entries that are lost, late, garbled, deleted, or misdirected as a result of technical, internet, server, or other online difficulties. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of an entrant, the holder of the e-mail account will be deemed the person who submitted the entry. Limit one entry per person or e-mail address. Subsequent entries from the same email address will be deleted. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified. All entries and attachments thereto become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned or its receipt acknowledged.

4. ELIGIBILITY:

VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.

This contest is void where prohibited by law. This contest is open only to legal residents of California within the KTLA viewing area, who are 18 years of age or older as of February 14, 2011. Employees of Sponsors and their parent corporations, subsidiaries, or affiliates, and such employees’ immediate family or household members are not eligible to enter or win the contest. Anyone currently employed as a staff anchor or staff reporter for any television station is not eligible to enter or win the contest. Anyone currently employed as an actor or on-camera participant in any regularly scheduled television production (whether scripted or unscripted, with the exception of advertising) is not eligible to enter or win the contest. KTLA, in its sole discretion, will determine the eligibility of any and all contestants based on criteria that include (but are not limited to) current or prior on-camera work in the television industry.

5. PRIZE AND WINNER SELECTION:
a. On or about February 23, 2011, a panel consisting of KTLA staff members, in their discretion, will judge all qualified entry submissions on the sole criterion of who has the possibility of being a successful co-host of the KTLA 5 Morning News, which will include, but not be limited to, subjective assessments of each entrant’s writing skills, appeal to KTLA’s audience, and other unique factors. The three (3) entrants whose entries are selected by the judges to have the most potential according to the aforementioned criteria will be deemed winners subject to eligibility confirmation and compliance with these rules. The decisions of the KTLA staff are incontestable, final and binding. KTLA reserves the right to choose fewer than three winners, or to cancel the contest entirely if it decides there are too few entries that meet the judging criteria.

b. Each winner will be required to appear on KTLA-TV as a guest co-host on the KTLA 5 Morning News on February 28, 2011, March 1, 2011 or March 2, 2011. The KTLA 5 Morning News airs from 4:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Failure to participate in any of the aforementioned broadcasts or rescheduled broadcasts on KTLA shall result in disqualification.

c. Each winner will also receive $330.00 for each day he or she appears on a KTLA-TV news broadcast. This competition is subject to KTLA’s agreement with AFTRA, to the extent applicable. Each winner will receive no other compensation or benefits, including but not limited to any talent agency fee. Payment will be made every other week in accordance with KTLA accounting practices. Failure to participate in the aforementioned broadcast on KTLA shall result in disqualification.

d. KTLA reserves the right to reschedule the dates of any of the winner's appearances because of breaking news, technical problems or unforeseen scheduling conflicts. The winner agrees to comply with and conform to generally accepted broadcast standards with regard to conduct, dress and language during his or her appearances on KTLA-TV, and such compliance shall be determined by KTLA staff in their sole discretion. Failure to comply with aforementioned standards will result in immediate disqualification.

All federal, state, and local taxes associated with the prize, as well as all other costs or expenses associated with the prize, including all travel and incidental expenses, are solely the responsibility of each winning entrant.

The winner will be required to sign a Release & Agreement, and associated Affidavit related to compliance with FCC rules governing "payola."

6. GENERAL CONDITIONS:
a. By entering, entrants grant to KTLA an unlimited, non-exclusive, royalty-free right and license to publish entry submissions (including photos and essays) in any medium now known or hereafter invented, in perpetuity. Entrants and Winners otherwise will retain all rights to their essasys, and the publication of their essays as part of this Contest will not limit their use and ability to further market the essays. KTLA reserves the right (but is not obligated) to post entry submissions online at www.ktla.com or broadcast the photos on KTLA Channel 5. Each entrant further agrees that KTLA is not obligated to return to him/her the original photos submitted for the competition.

b. If for any reason, the Internet-related portion of this contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, tampering, fraud, technical failure, or any other cause which corrupts or threatens the administration, security or integrity of the contest, KTLA reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate, modify, or suspend the contest or any portion of the contest. ANY ATTEMPT TO DAMAGE OR UNDERMINE THE FAIR AND LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS CONTEST WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE CONTEST. Information submitted in Internet entries, including entrant's name, address, e-mail address, etc., may be used by KTLA TV for marketing or promotional purposes.

b. Sponsor is not responsible and shall not be liable for: any failure of transportation; bad directions; or any injuries, losses or damages of any kind caused by Entrant’s participation in the Contest. The Prize is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guaranty, express or implied, by Sponsor. All entrants agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor, its parent companies and affiliates, and each of their respective employees, representatives, sponsors and advertisers, from any and all liability, loss, damage, costs, causes of action or claims related to any allegation regarding participation in the Contest and any travel therein, the award, the receipt, or the use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death, property damage, defamation, infringement of intellectual property rights, and claims based on the rights of publicity or privacy.

c. Sponsor reserves the right to delay contest announcements, postpone or reschedule all or some of the contest events, and/or modify contest deadlines at its sole discretion. Any such changes will be announced and posted on KTLA’s contest website at www.ktla.com/cohost.

d. This competition is not a hiring decision, and Entrants and Winners understand that KTLA is not offering a full- or part-time position in connection with this competition and the awarding of the prize set forth herein.

d, By participating in this contest, entrants (i) agree to have their names, photographs, voices, biographical information, likenesses, entry submissions (including the essay) and used in any and all media for promotional purposes relating to this contest or future similar contests without further compensation or notice, except as prohibited by law; and (ii) represent that they agree to be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges and Sponsor.

e. This contest is subject to the KTLA.COM Terms of Service (found at http://www.ktla.com/termsofservice) and the KTLA.COM Privacy Policy (found at http://www.ktla.com/privacypolicy). These Official Rules shall be governed, construed and enforced pursuant to the laws of the State of California, without regard to the choice of law provisions thereof.
